One platform for Shiftlink’s people and operations that boosted management efficiency.

Shiftlink’s growing team had outgrown a collection of separate SaaS tools. I designed a custom platform that brings internal workflows and team information into one place.

The problem

As Shiftlink grew, the tools that supported its team became harder to manage. Separate SaaS subscriptions increased costs and slowed everyday work. The team also lacked a clear overview of company spending, staff availability and recruitment progress.

The brief called for a platform that would:

  1. Bring HR and team workflows into one place.

    12:37 PM
  2. Reduce reliance on separate paid tools.

    12:37 PM👌
  3. Make team information and availability easier to find.

    12:37 PM
  4. Give the business a clearer view of its operations.

    12:37 PM
  5. That sounds good, we can get started!

My role

As Shiftlink grew, the tools that supported its team became harder to manage. Separate SaaS subscriptions increased costs and slowed everyday work. The team also lacked a clear overview of company spending, staff availability and recruitment progress.

The brief called for a platform that would:

  • Translate Shiftlink’s internal research and stakeholder input into product design decisions.

  • Design tools for operational needs, including recruitment and performance tracking.

  • Set the creative direction and build the shared design system.

  • Collaborate with the product owner and developers as the platform evolves.

The challenge was to turn these needs into a custom platform that supported daily work and could grow with the company.

Solution design & approach

I used Shiftlink’s internal research and input from stakeholders and the product owner to design a unified platform around the team’s operational needs.

  • Designing around operational needs

I translated the company’s research and stakeholder input into a design approach focused on the problems caused by disconnected tools. The aim was to make everyday work easier to manage within one platform.

  • Tools for specific tasks

I designed tools for needs across the business, from recruitment to performance tracking. Each feature addresses a specific task while contributing to a connected product experience.

  • A shared design system

I set the creative direction and built a scalable and AI-ready design system for the product. Shared patterns help keep the experience consistent as the platform grows and new features are introduced.

Results and Impact

The redesigned website increased lead conversion rate by 45% following A/B testing.

  • Lower reliance on external tools

Bringing internal operations into a custom platform reduced Shiftlink’s reliance on external SaaS subscriptions and delivered cost savings.

  • ~44% less time finding team information

Managers spent ~44% less time finding the team member information they needed, making an everyday task quicker to complete.
